The requirements for the award of the QA Certificate are 90 credit points within the three-year cycle and participants are required to obtain at least 30 credit points per year, subject to the following provisions: -
1.1 At least 30 credit points per year must be obtained from a combination of the CPD activities (subsections 3.1 to 3.27) and the Continuing Medical Education [CME] activities organized by the HKCFP (subsections 4.1 to 4.9) or other institutes (subsections 5.1 to 5.6).
1.2 Of the 30 credit points mentioned in 1.1, at least 10 credit points must be obtained from CPD activities (subsections 3.1 to 3.27).
1.3 Unless otherwise specified, a maximum of 15 credit points per year will be counted for each type of educational activities.
1.4 Participants must participate in a minimum of 3 different types of activities.
 
The commencement the QA programme for newly qualified members, who obtained the Medical Council of Hong Kong [MCHK] practising certificate between January 1 to June 30, will be on July 1 of the same year. For those who obtained the practising certificate between July 1 to December 31, the QA cycle will commence on January of the following year. The credit point calculation of the whole 3-year cycle will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis.

For new applicants, with the exception of newly qualified doctors who join the program after 2005, ONLY the year-end report will be issued.
